The complete guide to make a team at DreamHackathon

How to get a team 1-on-1

This is probably the most important part of the competition. We strongly suggest that you already today start looking at the submission page over at our community page because this page will be used during the whole event; for judging, for registration and so on.

Before the event This is how you will start, when you enter the site you'll get two options:
  • Enter a Submission
  • Look for teammates

If you already have an idea of what to do, perhaps already know a few people to participate in your team? Choose "Enter a Submission". This will allow you to start a project group. You may or may not have an idea that need some polish; perhaps you need a few more skills in your team? If this is the case "Look for teammates" is probably for you.

If you "Enter a Submission"
Once hit the "Enter a Submission" you'll get a form to which you get prompted to fill out. We've clarified some parts of it in the following picture, but the most important thing to know is that your project will be judged based on the presentation the 27th, not how well you write this submission. The reason you should write a good submission description is to attract the skill you need.

If you want to "Look for teammates"
When you hit the "Look for teammates" you soon find yourself at the "Participant" tab:

Here you can make contact with people you think looks interesting or have the skills you think you need to realize your idea. Hit the message button:

Of course you want to know which projects that are active and perhaps read more about what they need, this can be done through here:

And you may find the details about it:

Remember that all participants need to join a team in order to compete. The ability to join a team will be open to 19:00 the 26th of September! When you've found all the members you need, you have to create your team as described above!

How will it work at the event?

First of all we will gather up everyone that does not have a project or group that they feel are full. There will be a possibility to either find more people to your group or to find a group altogether. The secret recipe is to have an open mind, be inclusive and think outside the box. The other secret is to look at our neatly designed badges that everyone is wearing:

Each participant will fill out their main 3 skills just as they did in the application and you'll be able to easily find the skillset you need in your group. Then you create a group like described above.

If you have any questions, ideas or want some advice we will have coaches from our coach program at the event to help you out.

Last but not least, would you find it hard to come up with ideas, we’ve scouted these great idea generators to help you out! A pro-tip is to start thinking of some ideas already and be prepared to develop them at the event!

We are all looking forward to meet you all, see you in a few days! / DreamHackathon Staff
